Setting up your Trezor begins at Trezor.io/Start®, the official onboarding page designed to guide you through a secure and straightforward setup. Whether you’re new to cryptocurrencies or upgrading your security, the Start page ensures you follow verified steps and avoid fraudulent sites.
When you unbox your Trezor, the first instruction is to visit Trezor.io/Start®. This reduces the risk of phishing and automatically detects your device model. The site directs you to install Trezor Suite — the official desktop/browser app for managing your crypto while keeping private keys offline.
After connecting your device by USB, the Start page walks you through installing verified firmware if required. Installing official firmware is critical: it ensures your device runs software signed by Trezor. During this step, follow on-device prompts and verify the firmware signatures shown on the device screen.
Security tip: Check that the package seal was intact before opening and never trust firmware prompts shown off-device.
Trezor.io/Start® guides you to either create a new wallet or recover an existing one. For a new wallet you’ll receive a recovery seed — typically 12 to 24 words — which is the master key to your funds. Write these words on paper and store them offline. Never store your seed digitally or share it with anyone.
