The small, local helper app that allows your browser or desktop Trezor Suite to talk to a Trezor hardware wallet over USB.
Trezor Bridge is a lightweight application that runs on your computer and exposes a secure local communication channel between your operating system (or browser) and your Trezor hardware device. It is used when native WebUSB support is not available or when the desktop app requires a reliable USB bridge. Bridge keeps interactions local — it does not send your data to external servers.
Download the Bridge installer for Windows, run the .exe, and follow on-screen prompts. You may need administrator rights. After installation restart your browser or Suite.
Open the downloaded .dmg or .pkg, run the installer and allow any system permissions the installer requests. If macOS prompts about the app being from the internet, confirm and continue. Restart your browser/Suite after installation.
Linux packages or AppImages may be provided. Follow distribution-specific instructions — on many distributions you can run an AppImage or install a .deb/.rpm package. Ensure you set correct udev rules so non-root users can access USB devices (this typically involves copying a rules file and reloading udev).
Tip: If you use suite.trezor.io in a modern browser with WebUSB enabled, Bridge may not be necessary. However, Bridge is still a stable fallback for many setups.
Windows may require drivers or admin permission. On Linux ensure udev rules are installed and your user is in the appropriate groups. On macOS allow any prompted privacy permissions in System Preferences → Security & Privacy.
Uninstall the old Bridge via your OS settings, download the latest installer, and reinstall. Rebooting the system can clear stale USB sessions.
Trezor Bridge runs locally on your machine and only provides a connection channel; it does not read or transmit your private keys. Still follow these security practices:
To remove Bridge, use your operating system's standard uninstall process (Add/Remove Programs on Windows, move to Trash for macOS uninstallers, or use package manager commands on Linux). After uninstalling, restart your browser and reconnect the device — WebUSB may be used instead if supported.
If you develop integrations or use custom browsers, be aware that WebUSB is an alternative that allows direct communication without Bridge. However, WebUSB support varies by browser and OS — Bridge remains the broadest compatibility solution. For headless or automated environments, follow platform-specific guidance to securely allow USB access.
If problems persist: consult the official Trezor documentation and support resources for step-by-step guides and the latest downloads. Always verify you are on official pages before downloading installers.
